The Rams will start Wentz at quarterback in the season finale against the 49ers.

The 49ers aren't the only club changing quarterbacks for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Rams at Levi's Stadium.

Carson Wentz will start as quarterback for the Rams in Week 18, coach Sean McVay told reporters Wednesday.

McVay also stated that many important players will miss Sunday's game against San Francisco as Los Angeles had already qualified for the playoffs.

McVay says All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp and three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald will miss Sunday's game.

Wentz is 3-1 against the 49ers in four NFL starts. The 31-year-old quarterback's last Levi's Stadium start was a 30-18 Indianapolis Colts triumph in Week 5 of 2021.

Wentz has passed for 677 yards, six touchdowns, two interceptions, and a 64% completion rate in four career starts versus San Francisco. He has also rushed for two scores.

The Rams (9-7) are the No. 6 seed in the NFC playoffs and can earn that slot with a win or draw against the 49ers or if the Packers (8-8) lose their Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears (7-9).

Since the 49ers are guaranteed the NFC's top playoff spot regardless of Sunday's game against the Rams, Sam Darnold will replace Brock Purdy at quarterback as they rest their starter.
